Stroll along the pleasant Meuse riverside.
Hastière is the greenest district of the haute Meuse region. Take some time to admire or even climb the magnificent rocks such as the Freyr rock climb (3 km from the guesthouse). Find also the mysterious caves or cruises on the river Meuse. You can go down the River Lesse in kayak (10 km from the guesthouse) or take a stroll in the peaceful forest. You have the choice between a hilly bicycle trail or flat route along the RAVeL (100 meters from the guesthouse) or even the famous draisine rail bikes. See the middle-age castles, ruins or worthy of Versailles. Pass an afternoon in the markets and flea-markets. Visit the Hastière museum dedicated to rural, riverine and industrial life. Admire the natural parks and French gardens, a roman church and classical music concerts or abbeys. Try out some water-skiing, water sports (3 km from guesthouse, fishing (50 m from guesthouse), hunting, and diving in the Vodelée quarry. Watch the fireworks in the summer. Anything is possible around Hastière-par-Delà.
Our Facebook page keeps you update on upcoming events of interest in the region.
The accomplice and sparring partner of Au Plaisir is a journalist who specialises in tourist routes. Kristien Hansebout knows every spot of the region and draws out circuits for road bicycles, mountain bikes (VTT), walking, motorbikes and cars so that you can also keep us updated. We supply you the maps and corresponding GPS landmarks. We also created 4 circuits for road bicycles “jeux de piste”.
To give you an example of an original circuit, you could leave the lodge with an empty picnic basket that you can fill along the way with local and natural products ( juices, cheeses, meats, bread, etc. ). All that is left is to taste your treats on a river bank or on some grass beside a stream with clean drinking water.
How beautiful life can be!
Take a stroll along the banks of the Meuse, below the guest house.
Hastière – the pearl of the Upper Meuse and of ecotourism/slow tourism -, our village, offers no fewer than 150 km of walks. Stroll along the many footpaths in this green commune of the Belgian Ardennes. Every year, the tourist office offers a variety of themed walks with excellent guides. Check out our events on Facebook page Au Plaisir.
If you’re a cyclist, you’ll also be spoilt for choice : VTT, bike tours with audioguide (the IZI.travel app is free), RaVEL Namur-Dinant-Givet to cycle along the Meuse via the RaVEL and the “Voie Verte” to Charleville-Mézières. There’s no stopping you from discovering the magnificent region of the Haute Meuse.
Electric bikes can be hired from the Hastière tourist office and Villa 1900.
Download one of the 4 circuits IZI.travel of Hastière, made by us with the help of the tourist office on your mobile phone and set off by bike. Quizzes, observation games… Our beautiful region will no longer hold any secrets for you.
The B&B Au Plaisir is labelled « Bienvenue Vélo » and prove it to you !
Do not forget that you are in the heart of a beer-producing region. Sample the best local beer and discover their breweries.
Honeys, saffron, jams, juices, teas, salamis, sausages, cheeses, ice creams… There’s no shortage of local produce. Treat yourself to local products from local artisans.
Here are a few addresses to whet your appetite. We’re lucky enough to be surrounded by good restaurants within easy walking distance (max. 20 mins).
Another special feature of the region is that gourmet restaurants are very reasonably priced.
Explore the birth town of Adolphe Sax at only 13 km from Hastière. Visit his house (now a museum), his statue, his saxophone, his jazz festival…
The cable car can bring you all the way to the top of the citadel. Be captivated by the look of the river Meuse and its assembly of sightseeing boats, church and commercial routes.
The beautiful Namur is found at the junction of the rivers Meuse and Sambre. This place of culture hosts the “Intime” Festival of French-speaking fiction books, the movies festival FIFF, Namur’s theatrical art festival in May, the Solidarities music festival, art walks, Félicien Rops museum, the citadel, city water cruises (Namourettes)… Namur is also a place of fine cuisine, many restaurants, bars, wine bars, and outdoor tables. Walk along the quiet pedestrian routes lined with shop windows.
Peace and serenity can be found in the abbeys of Maredsous and Madredet. The region is also in demand with families who come to pedal the famous draisines on the ancient rail lines (Warnant – Falaën – Maredsous – Warnant : 3 circuits of 6 or 8 or 14 km)
Abbey also leads to abbey beer and cheese.
Cheers ! Our local beers are, of course, best enjoyed wisely.
Hikers are also making their way through our beautiful region. Indeed, the GR 125, the GR 126, Trappist abbeys hike and Chimay forest hike (section n° 3 Virelles – Hastière) pass through Hastière. Come and stay with us for a pleasant stopover.
The region has more than one trick up its sleeve. There’s a lot going on in Hastière and the surrounding area.
The tourist office organises some great guide walks. Hastière regularly hosts flavour markets, cervoise (beer) rounds, gourmet walks, secret nights and a marvellous fireworks display. We look forward to welcoming you.
The 28 November 2023
Rarely have I slept so well. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. It was also very clean. The homemade strawberry jam and the Granola were really great. Breakfast in the garden in great weather. In this really very special accommodation, the hostess goes out of her way to help. Maybe it doesn't bother other guests at all, but for me the toilet has to be separated from the room by a door, otherwise I feel very uncomfortable My personal feeling.

The 21 October 2021
We just had a pleasant stay at the beautiful Au Plaisir. We enjoyed delicious breakfast every morning (home made jams, chocolate hazelnut spread, etc) with the view to the very nice garden. The rooms are beautiful, cosy and very clean. Beside that Lilly, the host, generously provided us all sorts of useful information about the local area and we all felt very comfortable.
